I've been shopping at the rhododendron species botanical garden on site nursery long enough to have accumulated a nice little collection of their plants. in addition, there are several plants i've bought elsewhere, but they're growing at the garden and i like to check in on them and see how they're doing whenever i visit.

Loree bohl is one special woman. her blog, danger garden, was one of the first gardening blogs i started to follow, and it has had a lasting impact on my own garden and my personal plant preferences. but loree is not just a talented writer and photographer, she's also a truly gifted gardener. Most of the tiny gardens were a mix of in ground and container plantings. this one was definitely a minimalist style lots of color here, with no flowers. that's a happy pachypodium lamerei. cramscaping! my eye was first drawn to the agave americana 'mediopicta alba' but then i started scanning around all the other beauties. A committed and well followed garden blogger since 2008, loree documents the days, weeks, seasons and years of her garden in her on line garden blog of the same name: the danger garden. besides her own garden, loree writes about interesting plants, other gardens, and other gardeners of note. The danger garden is dedicated to traffic stopping often unusual plants with spikes and spines and thorns. a life long gardener, it was not until loree's first visit the american southwest for business that she realized her spirit plants were those that thrive in the desert.
